Higher Hands
Tho it seems I’m oft unnoticed
And lost in time and space
God above is watching o’er me
Tho I cannot see His face
Chorus Higher hands are leading me
Higher hands are leading me
I am not alone I know
As I walk this world below
For Higher hands are leading me
O how sweet to know He hears me
When I go to Him in prayer
And I tell Him all my troubles
When my heart is bowed with care
All my times are in His keeping
He has numbered all my years
And some day He’ll take me yonder
Where there’ll be no pain or tears
There’s a great eternal purpose
In the life of everyone
And someday we’ll know its meaning
When our days on earth are done
So I face an unknown future
Full of faith and unafraid
And the peace I have thru’ trusting
For the world I would not trade
Chap 5 Partners in Prayer by John Maxwell
Today we are learning to expand our prayer focus
John records Jesus' final words of instruction and encouragement before His arrest and His death
He spent intimate moments with His disciples interceding for protection and unity for them and believers in the world
3 Concentric Circles
The Prayer Of Jesus John 17
Jesus prays for Himself, that God would be glorified 17:1-5
in the death of His Son
as He has been in His life
For the 11 disciples 17:6-19
that they would be united, protected and set apart in their service for Him
And for His future followers, that they might know God and show God in their daily lives 17:20-26
Like 3 concentric circles,
Jesus moves from His "personal" needs
to His "family" needs, and finally
to the "worldwide" needs of His Church
This is a model for powerful prayer life patterned after the Lord Himself.
5 mins of daily prayer adds up to 30 hrs of talking to God in a year.
Pray and plead with God on behalf of others and be an intercessor like Christ
Rom8:34 Who then will condemn us? No one-for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honour at God's right hand, pleading for us.
A Day without prayer is a day without blessing
A Life without prayer is a life without power
