Sometime back our SS discussion strayed to the right and wrongs of tattoo too.
I cant recall what sparked it off
can the person responsible for this unrest in my mind please owe up.
Its good to think about such issues in case you have to give an answer to a seeker.
This law is found in Leviticus 19:28
Do not cut your bodies for the dead
or put tattoo marks on yourselves.
I am the Lord.(NIV)
We all wonder: Is body-piercing ok? What about tattoos? I know someone who spends precious time watching Miami Ink
listening to the ink needles go ZZZZZZZZZZZZ in every show
Not all patterns are roses and thorns
some patterns and images are sinister and bizarre
I personally want to listen to something more soothing
than the sound of a drill making holes in unblemished skin
What troubles me mostly is these pple want to draw attention to areas normally not exposed to the sun
and they have to select clothes cut-out to flaunt tattooed flesh
Get the picture?
To be fair I searched for other views. ahemm pun intended.
The author of my NLT bible have this comment.
I quote.
Keep up with the latest trends? Altho tattoos have been around for centuries,
they're really trendy these days.
You can't go very far without seeing some form of piercing,
from the more conventional one-hole in the earlobe to tongue piercing.
Body decorations are no more confined to sailors and bikers.
Suddenly even your mom might even consider getting a rose on her ankle!
But are tattoos and body piercing allowable in the Bible?Lev 19:28 says do not mark your skin with tattoos.
Taking that verse at face value, one would assume that God says no to all piercing and tattoos. So does that mean that everyone with a tattoo needs to get it removed it immediately? does that mean no more earrings?
Actually the best thing to do with a verse like that is to check out the context-
the situation described in this passage.
God knew that the nations in Canaan used tattoo and body piercing as part of their religion. God prohibited both practices for Israel, becos He did not want His pple
to imitate the worship practices of these nations. In other words,He looked at the attitude behind the practice.
To sum up, the Bible does not say that body piercing and tattoos are wrong.
Does that make either ok to do?
A better question to ask is What's my reason for doing this?
How carefully have you considered this issue?
Have you weighed the pros and cons, the infection factor
the cost of removal
(actually removal means you exchange a tattoo for a permanent scar)
Do you just want to do what everyone else is doing?
If your choice is made, how does this decision show your desire to bring glory to God?
Peace be unto you.
If you are not troubled by this issue and you are not ruled by earthly trends
I say God is with you my child.
Ta Ta too late
Me go bed. Hubby getting suspicious why i am blogging at 2:22 am.

On a saner note.....
I want to recap a meaningful lesson taught us
by Kenny Fam two wks ago.
"Your Prayer Can Make a Difference" Col4:2-6A. Prayer changes our perspective v2
prayer is not a waste of time.
It is the first line of defence
Tho God already knows, we remind ourselves when we verbalise our thots
B. Prayer opens up opportunities v3-4
At diff seasons of our lives we make contact with diff pple
C. Prayer enhances our effectiveness v5-6
Now who doesn't want that in her life.
Praying seems like the most logical thing to do when somethings big is brewing
God accomplishing His purpose is seen to be linked to prayer
Tonight my reading is Col 3:12 (NLT). Allow God to speak to all of us.
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves,
you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy,
kindness, humility,gentleness and patience.
Make allowance for each others faults, and forgive anyone who offends you.
Rmb the Lord forgave you,so you must forgive others.
Above all clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all tog in perfect harmony.
And let the peace of God which comes from Christ rule in your hearts.
For as members of one body you are called to live in peace.
And always be thankful.
This is sooo spot-on for me.
You notice this is the advice dished out by Paul to Christians
who have an issue with other Christians
Paul's teaching still applies today man.
Ya we have problems with the men-la
Strangely when I tried to let Ghrist rule in my heart this time
during the short encounter with "O-man"
I have peace and was not riled up as I put aside past prejudices.
God took away my usu unpleasantness, my hard-heartedness and aloofness
And of course I could digest my food better
Goodness knows what anger does to one's stomach.
Anyhow this was a good start
sparked off by Sparkers discussion in SS last wk
which set me thinkg how I can allow God to help me accept pple I cant change
The word rule comes from athletics:
Paul tells us to let God's peace be the "umpire" in our heart
Our heart is the center of conflict because
there's where our feelings and desires clash
How can we deal with these constant conflicts and live as God wants?
Paul explains that we must decide between conflicting elements on the basis of peace.
Which choice will promote peace in your soul, your family and your church?
So I leave you my dearies
To clear your relationships with yr friends,yr parents and men
with Christ's rule in your heart.
love love my world is full of love
i feel the earth move under my feet
cos you cared to express love to me.
m thankful........ Unti=P
