Lesson 2A 25.102009This is the link to the audio we listened to last Sunday in class
Being Wise about the Will of God by Stuart Briscoe
http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Telling_the_Truth/archives.asp?bcd=10/5/2009It is a 20 min clip, with clear teaching on the Will of God.
Stuart Briscoe says
God's Will is purposeful, personal and practical.
Indeed God's Will is discoverable and doable for all redeemed by grace.
Do find the time to listen to it with an open Bible.
We can't even begin to imagine how holy God is.
"I am holy. You must be holy ."It is God's Will for you to be holy. I Thes 4:3
God's will for me is good and pleasing and perfect in my life. Rom12:2It is so important to begin to appreciate this.
Otherwise how could we even desire to pursue holiness for the sake of loving God
If we understand this we will co-operate with the Holy Spirit within us. I Thes 4:8
Beloved SparkersOur heavenly Father cares deeply about every nuance of our life
Know that He is always present and involved as you balance studies, work and seeking life partners
I pray that He will
still us, stir us and strengthen us as we pass through this season of our life
We are on a special journey together to see God as He longs to be seen by us
Unite as we pursue a life long adventure in learning to love God with our heart and soul and mind.
Lesson 2B next SundayGod means business. He demands holiness if you hope to be in a relationship with Him
Take a look at how Eve learnt it the hard way. Read
Gen 3:1-19Take a look at the way we trivialise our actions with little regard for a Holy God.

A Hymn based on Psalm 34. David says "O taste and see that the Lord is good." Ps34:8
A psalm regarding the time he pretended to be insane in front of Abimelech, who sent him away.
LET US EXALT HIS NAME 1. At all times I will bless Him,
His praise will be in my mouth,
my soul makes its boast in the Lord;
The humble man will hear of Him,
the afflicted will be glad
and join with me to magnify the Lord.
Chorus
Let us exalt His name together forever,
I sought the Lord,
He heard me and delivered me from my fears;
Let us exalt His name together forever,
O sing His praises magnify the Lord.
2. The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear His name,
to save them and deliver them from harm;
Though lions roar with hunger,
we lack no good thing,
no wonder then we praise Him with our song.
3.Come children now and hear me
if you would see long life,
just keep your lips from wickedness and lies;
Do good and turn from evil
seek peace instead of strife,
love righteousness and God will hear your cry.
We are longing to see the Character of God 18.10.2009
Icebreaker: What first comes to mind with the mention of the word God
is probably how we see God in our life. Not very serious one Just for laughs.
My Relationship with God is likened to .......
Debbie says: Me and My warm jacket. I only have one. (O loyal faithful Deb)
Jun: Me and My eraser which I carry in my pencil box all the time. To erase the mistakes I make. (cute)
Eunice says: Me and My rather big imagined rock. I have to sit on it when I am super stressed and when I am jittery to protect others from super stress. (welcome to Sentosa Beach breakwaters)
Unti;P says: Electrical appliance plugged in on standby mode. I have the controls, to switch it on or off whenever I want to use it. It is very helpful like a vacuum cleaner.
Diana: Me and My medicine. I know it is good for me but sometimes I just refuse to take it. (Ok lor . :)) )
Jeanette: Me and My hair conditioner. I tend to use it when I have time on my hands only. Likewise I spend time with God when I feel the I have time to spare. (Solution: use 2 in one, shampoo with conditioner like all of us with panicky hair. Come to think of it, yr hair does appear > cultivated than ours )
Kellyn: Special Etzy link card which I use to pay for everything as long as I have my breath esp for transport. It is breathtaking because it is linked to mom's bank account. Giro~ed some more, which effectively means it will never run out, even when I am running after the bus. No need top up one. (I also want one)
Wenx: Me and My blanket. I feel niz to know its around. When it gets cold faithful blanket will hug my legs. But I will not reach out to it even if I get the chills cos that will wake me up fully in the middle of my sleep. >L<.I am a very light sleeper. If I kick it off the bed occasionally, it is non intentional. ( wenx, your legs don't get to sleep much when you are sleeg. That's y they fall asleep when you are standg. hah!)
Annabel: Me and My blanket. It gets comfortable when it is cold and I have my comforter. ~(i@) zzzz (The way you relish your moment of sleep, I can even feel your 18C air-con.)
Audrey: Its like Nana my bestest fren. I tell her everything that's happening to me. (standby Nana we need you to answer Qs directed @ Audrey')
Angela: Described her relationship with God as Undescribable perhaps. God is present all the time all the way. Even when she is with friends, God does not go missing. God is especially close at the end of each day when there is a need to pray. Basically Angela finds it weird to restrict God to a thing, anything.
So there it is.
Really Miss Victoria Thong today.
Will spring this Q on her next week and see how she responds.

True and Lasting Meaning in God AloneAre you a warrior or worrior? Are your days filled with purpose or drudgery?Matt 6:34 So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's troubles is enough for today.
IKg 3:12 To Soloman God gave 'a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have'. Soloman had spent his whole life experiencing and analysing all the world had to offer. At the 'autumn' of his life, his conclusion? Life is short, boring, meaningless even futile, yadda yadda. So enjoy pleasure while you can.
Ecc 3:1 'For everything there is a
season, a time for every activity under heaven'.
Ecc3:9 'What do people really get for all their
hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be
happy and
enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labour, for these are
gifts from God'.
Follow God's guidelines for livingTake pleasure in what we are doing now and enjoy life because it comes from God's hand.
True enjoyment comes to those who consider each day to be a gift from God, thanking Him for it and serving Him in it.
Without God, people merely exist, moving from the excitment of youth to the bitterness of old age.
YOU~THThis is the season of your life God intended for you to be a student/single/employee
Do you see yourself as privileged and protected like Chien Chong said today?
You are God's chosen like the tribe of Benjamin
He cautions us not to take security from God for granted.
Know where we direct our zeal and potentials?
Use it to serve God in our passion for God's work
Do not use it to sin.
He departed with this warning.
Don't take sin lightly.
Uni~Sparker Sharing left me these impressions.
Introducing.......
Miss Thong and Miss Yue, artistically inclined genus (or should it spell genius)
Their similarities end there.
They are poles apart in temperament.
DebbieVictoria shared with us a rare glimpse of Debbie when final artproject was due in JC2
Debbie pressed by deadline was reduced to speechless rhythmic shaking of her head
A once a century outward exhibition of superlative stress.
Debbie's fireworks are only confined to the canvas, unlike normal mortals like us
Last 6 months, together with Jun, they attended Japanese lessons
Both did well in their language tests.
Debbie took care of planning and executing craftwork in the June children's camp
Did you get to know Linda Teoh and Serene Ang better?
Linda Teoh with her curly hair never fail to look more ruffled than you!
Irony or Not. You decide.
We might as well make a final attempt to pry into Debbie's life before the door is shut.
Name 1 Characteristic of yourself we commanded.
After much hem and haw, she finally picked .....'indecisive"
Kel asked her whether she will put up her hand up during tutorial to score 'participation points'
Without hesitation she shot back with an emphatic "NO! Noooo!"
Decidedly indecisive this girl.Back to FASS Faculty of Arts and Social ScienceAssignments are piling up for Deb and threatening to bury her.
Do we overhear a rare gurling of exasperation?
Do keep Debbie in your prayers.
Now to unearth the truth about
Miss Victoria.First option was to be a cute curator at the NUS Museum
What was supposed to be a temp-job before she commits to a degree in art history overseas.
Turned out quite mind boggling and boring.
Seriously not funny. Forecast gloomy to be chained to an admin chair for a career
Her penchant for all things art and history became virtual memory
To Archi Faculty. Now how blessed is it to be granted one's heart desire? The Archi door is infamously competitive and small.
Vic's entrance test was a walk in the park, some art interpretation and abstract challenge that won her a direct entry. Heh, I think you got to be quite outstanding to jump the interview.
Its a great advantage to be able to draw to survive this mighty demanding life sapping course.
I had opportunity to get to know
Vic during extended Sparker bash.
She kindof turned my previous misconceptions topsy-turvy.
She can be exuberant, whacky and warm hearted.( rmb her when she played Scattergories? eating her stringy cuttlefish?)
But be warned she is a steely tough cookie too. She works hard when she puts her mind to it.
Heart to Heart w Uni~ Sparks
Pray that you all will guard your 'Sabbath rest' zealously
Take time to smell the roses, to daydream or you will cease to be human
Be sweet, be humble, be game like you always will
Have a life different from the world of your faculty
Praying that a good life full of thanksgiving befall you
Giving praise and glory to God Almighty.
Jun Jeanette Debbie and Victoria
Thank you again for sharing 'times of your lives' with us
May the glory of the Lord go before you in life's journey into your 20's
And His hand of protection behind.
Amen.
Much love from fellow Sparkers

Extract from email with Sparkers in the course of the week.
"I try to swim this last lap of youfing splashingly
praying that God grants every Sparker the desire to finish well
Therefore need every little splatter of support from sistars for our self scripted study
on the Character of God.
Uni~Sparkers Sharing. This Sunday
We will relinquish the platform to our Debjunetvic
Just a suggestion on what to share.....
Following a self check on how your 6 months of vacation was spent
What you have accomplished for yourself and for others
What you enjoyed, found useful for your personal growth
What you benefited from doing and would like to continue doing
Share your journey in order to benefit those who will walk the same path in December
Share your regrets so that others will not come to grief with their omission
4.10.2009
This is dedicated to
Eunice who could not be present today as it is her grandad's BD
1.Jeanette shared about her working stint in a learning institution.
She held a temp job. (A blessing to be able to get short term employment during Uni hols)
She concluded that a desk job is not for her. Too sedentary and slow pace.
If she had her way, she would have preferred things to be done more quickly and efficiently.
There are many man-made rules set in concrete in authoritative institutions
Where God has placed us, we must always ask ourselves whether we should be doing the things the rest of the world perceive as ok.
Mostly the argument goes, it does not harm you, it does not harm me. That's perfectly legitimate as far as office politics go.
What will God think?
Self Headed Society
Another interesting experience she recountered concerns differential treatment.
Generally clients are very conscious about cost and stringent about wastage.
Whilst working for a baking enterprise doing demos at different locations, she was blessed with
gracious hospitality from places affiliated with Christian organisations. Her team can almost anticipate a good time of being well fed and using facilities at their own discretion.
Perhaps it was a special divine favour to Jeanette as her boss, a non Christian seems to notice the disparity.
This may be an opening for Jeanette to invite her ex-emplyer for our outreach.
It really speaks louder than words when Christians walk the extra mile for service providers.
Jeanette enjoyed her participation in
June Children's Camp
She learnt some lessons while facilitating the programs
Being a independent worker by nature, she must take special care to communicate and delegate duties to co- labourers
She could work in tandem with Shaun as they take on complementary roles in teaching the children
Thank you for your open precious sharing.
2. Jun did many things to
upgrade herself during the hols.
Learning to play the guitar and golf.
Learning Japanese -a third language
Never try never discover where our affinities lie.
She found time even to tutor 2 students
Tutoring is hard work and it teaches her patience
She is still making time to coach these children despite team having started in NTU
Indeed hard earned cash teaches one the value of stewardship.
It also helps us appreciate the money our parents have to fork out to put us through school
University tution fees are exorbitant these days
I notice you stayed away from mention of your vice- food :"P......
Heehee holiday is spelt with a F-o-o-d for all Singaporeans
Jun volunteered her time during the
June Children's Camp
She learnt to shoulder the responsibility of snack making with the help of senior ladies
The mode of communicating with a differnt generation needless to say is....'reviving'.
Without technology, revive good old reliable paper and and print of course.
Dealing with chaos and the mess of amateurish little fingers baking is run of the mill
Well done Jun. You seem to be destined for lessons on patience.
Time Wise / Sheer Pleasure /Peer Pressure
Thank you for your special mention
borne out of concern for the younger ladies
Although staying in the Hall at NTU can be a liberating exhilarating experience
One must always be careful to
do the right thing
Make the right choices with regards to
liberty and responsibilty
Strike a balance between studies and socialising
It is deemed anti-social not to participate in pleasure seeking bash
Nocturnal escapades to high decibel watering holes pose a certain degree of pleasure or
health hazard?
With strangers? You ought to see a
Red flag.
With peers? Are you able to call it a night when departure time is nigh.
Or the night is still young at 2am.
Its not about you, its about them.
The drunk drivers who has a murder weapon in their hands, we always caution our sons.
Are you able to be focused when its time to bury your head in books again?
Appreciate your very honest sharing which benefitted us all.
So next change @ Sparkers Theatre 5.30pm Sunday
Feature Matinee : Starring Miss Thong and Miss Yue.
Adios my peeress.
