Book is found in our church library
She says
God raised up ordinary folks like you and me
to accomplish great works for His kingdom
She prays
that through the study of God's Word
God will let you see the vital significance of your life.
She hopes
we will persevere and not lose heart.
Greatness is never achieved nor dreams realised apart from great discipline.

That, my friend, is why you need to study it for yourself.

INDUCTIVE STUDY
Study God's Word to see the truth for yourself,
discern what it means and apply it to yourself
I think I best remember it by using OIL
O= observation Q:What does the passsage say?
I= interpretation Q:What does the passage mean?
L= app(L)ication Q:How does the meaning of the passage apply to me?
God can give you an insight at any point in your study
When words in passages make an impression on you
Stop for a moment and meditate on what God has shown you

Bring the plumbline of truth
against what you believe and how you are living.
I simply love the way she expresses that.

What God says,
What He means,
And how to put His truths into practice
You will be equipped for every circumstance of life.
APPLICATION takes place when you are confronted with truth and decide to respond in obedience to that truth.
The basis for application is 2Tim 3:16
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the woman of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
To be equipped for every good work - totally prepared to handle every situation in a way that honours God - is not only possible, it is God's will.

that will hold you in the storms of life
May the Holy Spirit be your guide and teacher.

There's really plenty to learn fr this prophet of old
He's alot like me and you

When he is threatened and stressed
He panics, gets discouraged, exhausted, depressed
He gives up hope, 'srsly' as Bel puts it, safer to hide in a hole.
But then again with God's help
He is willing to risk life and bone
He challenged Israel to stand alone - to follow God or Baal
That sparked a contest on Mt Carmel
Where all hell broke loose
Makes you think, in studies or in work
When God chooses you to accomplish His task
He also helps you in creative ways with
His Wisdom to live a life to please Him
His Courage to make a stand for truth
Like Elijah, with encouragement and faith to carry you through.
